Scoring Methodology
How we evaluate and grade healthcare providers
Each healthcare provider receives a score from 0 to 100 based on multiple factors. This score is then converted to a letter grade to provide an at-a-glance assessment of the organization.
Our scoring system is designed to reward transparency, proper certification, and clean legal records, while penalizing opaque ownership structures and regulatory issues.
Every organization starts with a base score of 50 points. Points are then added or subtracted based on the following criteria:
Points Added For:
- Each active certification (+10 points each)
- Verified organization status (+15 points)
- Independent or physician ownership (+10 points)
Points Deducted For:
- Each legal action (-15 points each)
- Private equity ownership (-10 points)
Note: Scores are capped at 0 (minimum) and 100 (maximum).
- Certifications: Verified against issuing organization databases (FDA, AABB, CAP, state boards)
- Ownership: State business filings, SEC disclosures, and corporate press releases
- Legal Actions: Federal and state court records, regulatory enforcement databases
- Organization Details: Official websites, industry directories, and verified submissions
